Interesting detail seen at the Baroque church of Haus im Ennstal: Gentlemen are sitting at the right pews, for the ladies are the left pews reserved. On the right side there is one row less than on the left side. That means: Gentlemen have more space between the rows.
Colorful sundial seen at a church in Haus. The phrase one can see below the sundial is a kind of memento mori: “Wer an dieser Uhr ersieht die Stunden dieser Zeit denkt deren eine schickt mich einst in die Ewigkeit”.
Only a pink sheep was witness: After a small climb I enrolled myself into the summit register (Gipfelbuch) of the Hauser Kaibling. Speaking about sheep: There is an interesting theme path about those animals around the summit.
A cute project in Haus, a place in the Austrian province Styria: Schafsinn. At a mountain next to Haus there is a theme path where people are told about the life of sheep. One can not only read the info boards along the path but also meet the sheep grazing up and down the hill.
Right below the walls of Lockenhaus Castle (Burg Lockenhaus) in Burgenland, I took a class about working with acrylic paint led by Elisabeth Holzschuster. Well, how do you like my first work? It is named ‘Blue car on a rainy day’.

Memories! Many years ago I used to write on a travel typewriter. Tonight I came across such a portable typewriter at my hotel in Dürnstein. Ha, I wonder how I could write a whole article without using copy and paste and auto correction. What about you? Did you type your first articles on such a typewriter too?
At the Rosencafe in Zwentendorf I joined a lesson in decorating a cake. The lesson was given by the owner of the cafe Mrs. Helga Fidler-Himsel. After an introduction about different methods decorating a cake I was told how to create that small pieces showing above, how to paint them and finally how to move the result from your work space up to the cake. Well, one can see the result above.
Cute vase made of porcelain seen on a guided tour through the Viennese Porcelain Manufacture Augarten. The piece named ‘Pinocchio’ (mind the long nose) was designed by the Austrian designer Philipp Bruni. Fun detail: The vase cannot fall down, the design forces it always to get up.

A monument to Peter Rosegger located in Kapfenberg. He was a famous regional poet in Styria. The monument mentions him as a poet of the forest which probably refers to the fact that he grew up in the forest nearby and wrote much about the life there.
In Austria, many trains are named. Today I came across a very special name: Chris Lohner. This is that lady whose voice one can hear at the recorded announcements of the railway stations and on the Railjets. Isn’t it lovely to honour her work by naming a train after her?
