Do you know this phenomenon: You can only spot things you know they are around you – If you don’t know their existence you’ll overlook them. After many years leaving my train at railway station Meidling the sound of church bells made me aware there is a church next to me. Well, do you see the church?
Hauptplatz in Graz
One of the loveliest places in Graz is the Hauptplatz. It is the main square of the city. I took this photo from the balcony of the city hall. The clock tower (Uhrturm) on top of the hill is the landmark of Graz.
Lovely inner yard in Graz
An inner yard in Graz. One can find them especially at the 1st district of the city. Some of them are open for public. I took this photo while climbing up to a gallery located in the fifth store of an old building in the centre of Graz.
Over the rooftops of Graz
View from the terrace of the Gallery Remixx in Graz. The church on the left side is the Dom (Cathedral) of Graz, the three spires on the right side belong to the Katharinenkirche and the mausoleum of Emperor Friedrich II.
Over the rooftops of Vienna
An unusual view of the Austrian parliament taken from a rooftop café at the 25hours Hotel in Vienna. The church (Minoritenkirche) in the middle of the photo houses an amazing mosaic: A replica of Leonardo da Vinci’s ‘Last Supper’.
Church St Martin in Lanzendorf
I took this photo on a train journey from Vienna to Linz. The church located in Lanzendorf (Böheimkirchen) was first mentioned in 1248. Interesting detail: The tower is tilted. I am also impressed by the fact that one can still see this pretty old church on a free field next to a high speed railroad.

A diesel railcar owned by the Hungarian-Austrian railway company Raaberbahn AG. This railcar was produced in the Austrian place Jenbach as part of the ÖBB 5047 series and sold later to the Raaberbahn AG.
Cadillac Sedan 1956 in Frankfurt on Main
As you know I love to stroll around railway stations while waiting for the next connection. So I do at airports as well. At Frankfurt on Main Airport I came across this Cadillac Sedan (1956) which is an advertisement for two German museums about technology.
Fun advertisement at Frankfurt Main Airport
Fun as well as thought provoking advertising seen at Frankfurt on Main Airport. Literally translated the text says: “You have to read in order to stay on top”
Brüder-Grimm-Museum in Kassel
Another interesting venue of the dOCUMENTA (13) I visited today: The Brüder-Grimm-Museum in Kassel.
Fridericianum in Kassel
I started my walk along the venues of the dOCUMENTA (13) at the Fridericianum. The building constructed in 1779 was one of the first houses built for the purpose of a public museum.
