The 8th day of my InterRail trip ended in Innsbruck. The idea to travel from the Baltic Sea to the Alps was implemented. By the way the two artworks at the railway station were created by Max Weiler. More…
Schattenburg Castle in Feldkirch
While waiting for my Railjet to Zurich I glimpse at Schattenburg Castle (Schattenburg). It seems to guard the tunnel right next to the railway station of Feldkirch.
Mural in Hohenems
This photo I took while passing the railway station of Hohenems with an Austrian commuter train. The subject showing Siegfried and Hagen refers to the fact that parts of the Nibelungenlied (Song of the Nibelungs) had been found in a palace of Hohenems.
Grimming Mountain on Austrian Train TV
On a train journey through Styria (Austria) I took this photo of a mountain called Grimming. I love to call views through the window at the opposite side ‘Train TV’. It’s a bit like looking at a flat screen, isn’t it?
The use of the old letters ‘Südbahnhof’
Interesting way to save the letters of the demolished railway station Wien SÜDBAHNHOF. In October 2011 I saw the letters placed above the entrance of the Wien Museum. I wonder how many visitors had realized that the museum is lettered like a railway station? More…

Agricultural museum at Fürthermoar Alm, Austria
After having a snack with a tasty piece of local butter produced with a mould I visited this museum about traditional farmer tools located at an alp named Fürthermoar Alm.
Typical piece of butter in Austrian mountains
Traditionally the butter in the alps is made by a butter mould (Buttermodel). After my trip to the huge reservoirs in the mountains near Kaprun, I had lunch at a nearby farmhouse and came across this fine modeled piece of butter.
Chapel near Wasserfallboden in Kaprun
A chapel near the Wasserfallboden reservoir. A nice piece of architecture in lovely scenery. Inside some inscriptions reminded me that life in such a beautiful scenery is pretty dangerous though.
