Following the signs to the old entrance hall of Prague Central Station leads to a gem of Art Nouveau. The nearby Fantova kavárna (Fanta Café) reminds visitors of the architect of this hall: Josef Fanta (1856-1954).

Gate of Holy Mother in Jihlava
The Gate of Holy Mother (Brána Matky Boží) is the only one preserved from five medieval town portals in Jihlava. Its remarkable Renaissance crest was an add-on from 1564. Inside the gate, you’ll find an exhibition about the history of the Jihlava Fortress.

Candles for Václav Havel
4 days before my visit in Brno the essayist and politician Václav Havel died. Many places in the city were covered with candles, photos, letters and even drawings. It’s impressive to see that a person has found its place in the hearts of the people, isn’t it? It reminds me of we all should do something to find our place in someones heart.
Marvellous facades in Brno
Some facades I came across near the railway station of Brno. In cities with railway stations built around 1900 one can see a lot of fascinating architecture near these stations. Therefore I love to stroll around these quarters and to take photos like these ones.
Lunch at Czech dining car
Having lunch at a Czech dining car: Marinated Beef Sirloin served with bread dumplings (‘Svíčková na smetaně s houskovými knedlíky’).
Funny fireplug in Tabor
While walking through the Czech city Tabor I came across this funny fireplug. Tabor is a historic city in the region of South Bohemia, Czech Republic. An attraction of this place is an accessible system of tunnels below the city.
