St. Nicholas’ Church (Nikolaikirche) is the oldest of the three major parish churches in Stralsund. It was dedicated in 1279 to St. Nicholas of Myra, the patron saint of sailors. Inside the astronomical clock dating back to 14th century is worth a visit.

View of St. Nicholas’ Church (Nikolaikirche) taken while crusing the Strela Sound with a snug sailing boat. A speciality of this church are the different roofs of the towers. Only the southern tower is covered with a Baroque roof, the other tower has a nearly flat one.
Manhole cover in Erfurt
The manhole covers of Erfurt show the city arms. The local coat of arms reminds of the Mainzer Rad (Wheel of Mainz). Is there a reason for this similarity? The chronicle of Erfurt tells the answer to this question.
City hall tower in Passau
The tower of the city hall was erected between 1889 and 1892 by Heinrich Freiherr von Schmidt in neo-Gothic style.
Klopstock House in Quedlinburg, Germany
German writer Friedrich Gottlieb Klopstock was born in this building on July 2nd, 1724. Today it houses a museum about his works, e.g. about his epic poem ‘The Messiah’ (Der Messias). Besides that the museum tells about other famous personages who used to live in Quedlinburg like Dorothea Erxleben, Johann GutsMuths and Carl Ritter.
Otto-Moericke-Turm in Constance
While crossing Lake Constance from Meersburg to Constance by boat I took this photo of a conspicuous white coloured tower named Otto-Moericke-Turm. It is a former water tower which houses a youth hostel now. A fine address if one would like to stay at something special.

On my way to Meersburg Castle, I came across this Zeppelin museum located in Meersburg. If one interested in this kind of airships this museum and the Zeppelin museum in Friedrichshafen nearby would be a good combination.

Council hall of Überlingen
Decoration at the city council hall of Überlingen, which hasn’t been altered since 1494. The hall is decorated with a cycle of limewood figures carved by master Jakob Ruß.
Windegg Mansion in Reichenau
Windegg Mansion (Schloss Windegg) also known as the ‘Bürgle‘ was founded in the 14th century as a guesthouse for a nearby abbey. There is a rumour that Pope Martin V stayed here for some time after his election in 1417 at the Council of Constance.
Imperia in Constance
The statue of Imperia is placed at the port of Constance (Konstanz) It reminds of the Council of Constance in the years 1414-1418.
